Metamorphosis.

Believe your eyes
Saveliy Kharlamov's series is based on a story that has been spread since ancient times and received a lot of variations in all possible forms of art. The very etymology of the Greek word "Metamorphosis" ("meta" – transformation, "morhe" – image) already hints at the fact that the topic, long ago discovered by Ovid, is unlikely to lose popularity as long as there is humanity.

Despite the topic is pretty cliched "Metamorphosis" turns out to find a new interpretation in Kharlamov's photographs. Turning to the beauty of everyday things and the method of multi-exposure the author creates complex images where a poetic subject is in a variety of hypostases at the same time. A static thing multiplied by itself just like a repeatedly recurring word has a hypnotic effect and generates an impulse to search for the solution of the visual rebus. Wandering through this labyrinth the look of the beholder overcomes the distance from the surreal mystery of intertwined lines to the self-sufficient image of the object. Here everyone has the opportunity to see something of their own, whether these are imposed by society ideas about things or a marginal fantasy.

It should be noted that the choice of objects for the series was primarily made due to the simplicity of their identification in the eyes of the viewer. The complex geometric shape is used by the photographer as a frame capable of forming elegant architecture as a result of repetition.

The artist is trying to give the things photographed as much freedom as necessary so that it can develop as it pleases. Only a small part of what you see in front of you was originally planned. Objects in the photographs seem to have frozen in the air at the moment when you enter the gallery space. Their endless unfolding and the incessant metamorphosis take place right before the eyes of the viewer. Right now – you are part of it and its author. Look for it.
