GRAPHIC
ART
It is a generic term for artworks representing a stamped image, typically on paper. There are numerous printing techniques, some going back to Chinese woodblock printing and the invention of the book printing. It may take some time for an artist to find the best fit for their artwork. Great masters like Albrecht Dürer and Rembrandt were into printmaking which allowed a wider audience to buy their etchings and lithographs.

What is a fine art print?
01/
Fine art prints are often associated with mass copying of an original work of art. But fine art printing is art in its own right. A fine art print is made specifically for the chosen medium - the artist selects an artistic expression, technique, materials for each work and creates a limited number of prints, each of them being an original and unique piece of art, not a copy of another work. All fine art prints are signed by the author with indication of its number in the edition. Reprinting of an edition is a rare occurrence.
Is fine art printing just copies of the same work?

A decoration poster is usually printed in million copies on regular paper, whereas each fine art print is a unique work of art. Experimenting with different techniques, pigments, type and density of paper is part of the author's statement. The artists often personally add some final touches to the imprints, put their number in the edition and sign them.
What's the difference between a fine art print and a regular poster one can buy in a home supplies or a souvenir shop?

Works on paper are usually a more democratic medium than canvases, though that depends on the name of an artist. You may be able to afford a print of your favorite artist, while a painting may be out of reach. But a print by a famous artist will most probably be more expensive than a painting of a not so famous one. Generally, fine art prints can be a great start for a collection or a good medium for those who want to have a real work of art at home instead of a mass production poster.
Why are fine art prints cheaper than paintings?
04/
A number of factors influence the price of works, such as:
– the artist,
– the work’s characteristics, medium and materials,
– market prices and other economic factors.

Scarcity and rarity are strong elements that influence the value of prints. If an artist has created a relatively small edition, each print will likely be more valuable and sought after, and the price will rise.
Why do the prices on prints vary that much?

Works on paper are vulnerable. Handle unframed prints as little as possible and make sure they are never exposed to bright light and extreme heat or moisture.
