MARIA
STADNIK
A young artist from Moscow, Russia, Maria works mostly with landscapes; she believes that their atmosphere truly reflects the mood and emotions of the artist. She often chooses narrow and elongated formats because they are ideal for panoramic landscapes.

«I feel enchanted by boundless fields with old grayish barns, hangars and cowsheds. Many of them are empty and long abandoned. They have lost their original function but found another one: they are now existing on their own, outside of time or social context. They have become ideal figurative forms.

Almost all of the art pieces that I single out can be defined as magical realism, and its movements regionalism and precisionism. They are characterized by geometrically adjusted language of forms, absence of people of staffage. And the empty towns, industrial buildings, plants, elevators and bridges become central to the art work.

I can refer my paintings to the magical realism school because I use the same artistic and composition methods, as well as the objects. Time has stopped on my paintings. Everything is frozen. There are only those lonely structures in the empty fields. This abandonment seems very poetic, as a symbol of time that passes».
